The Unity XT is a next-generation offer designed for midrange applications and workloads. Key product features are performance, efficiency and design for multicloud environments. The Unity XT is NVMe-ready, a future-proof design that enables customers, when they’re ready, to add NVMe drives. The performance exceeds the previous model by 2X, according to Sam Grocott, senior vice president, infrastructure solutions group at Dell EMC, thanks to software and the latest generation of Intel processors. Storage efficiency was also bumped up to 5:1 data reduction.

The Dell EMC Cloud Storage Services extend the on-premises data center to the cloud, in an as-a-service model, with initial support for two use cases: disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS), which will be supported on the Unity and PowerMax; and multicloud access for analytics, test/dev, workload migration and other cases where users need more compute — here, support will be on the Isilon system.

The Isilon OneFS 8.2 is a hardware and software appliance designed for unstructured data. The new device is designed for scale – 75% more, up to 58PB capacity – and has expanded multicloud support to include Alibaba and Google public clouds.

PowerProtect software, the vendor’s next-generation data management platform. It’s built from the ground up to be software-defined, self-service and SaaS. It has multicloud connections and a modern services-based architecture, and integration with VMware, said Grocott. The new software offers backup and recovery and has native integrations with VMware, Oracle and others, and offers centralized oversight, governance and long-term retention to the public cloud.

The PowerProtect X400 is a data management appliance that joins existing IDPA family of fully integrated data protection appliances. This device leverages the PowerProtect software and the PowerEdge servers, scales up and out for flexibility, utilizes hybrid or all-flash configuration and integrates with VMware.

The IDPA DP4400 has a starting configuration of 8TB, scaling up to 24TB in a single node. It offers enterprise capabilities to the SMB market. The IDPA DP-440 is field upgradable to 96TB. Other features: It’s a converged 2U appliance and offers cloud tier and cloud disaster recovery options, and search, monitoring and analytics capabilities.
