Keeping to his word, Commvault’s Owen Taraniuk, global head of partnerships and market development, is putting more horsepower in the race. The company on Thursday said that it has hired Andy Vandeveld as vice president, worldwide alliances.

Vandeveld is responsible for strengthening existing alliances and building new ones with cloud and enterprise technology companies. He’s also tasked with aligning Commvault’s alliance strategy with the efforts of its field sales teams, helping to expand revenue and market share for the company and its channel partners, worldwide.

“Andy’s expertise in building strong partnerships with technology and channel leaders will enable us to further accelerate our move to a partner-led strategy designed to grow and scale our global business,” said Taraniuk. “By strengthening our current alliances, developing innovative new partnerships and interlocking our alliance strategies with our sales efforts, Andy will play a key role in creating new revenue opportunities for both Commvault and its partners.”

In his previous position, as vice president, global strategic alliances, at Veeam Software, Vandeveld led a team that established resale and technology partnerships with vendors such as Cisco, Netapp, HPE, PureStorage, Nutanix, VMware, Microsoft, IBM and others.

The bulk of Vandeveld’s career has been focused on the channel ecosystem. He also worked for Citrix, Brocade, Juniper, and IBM.

“[Commvault is] expanding its indirect channel, the scale of its partnership globally, the number and types of those partnerships, and we’re also looking to align as a company from a product and solution offering much more toward the opportunity of those partners that we have and are adding,” Taraniuk said in a recent interview with Channel Futures.

Commvault has grown its number of vendor alliances recently, adding Cisco, HPE, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud, to name a handful.
