Telarus, Windstream, T-Mobile Launch New Services for Partners to Sell

  • Written by James Anderson
  • January 9, 2020
The channel charged hard into the holiday break with a constant stream of product announcements.

T-Mobile launched its 5G network, and Cato Networks added new security capabilities to its platform last month.

All manner of companies made our latest new services roundup. Cisco unveiled its massive “Internet for the Future” initiative, and networking vendors Juniper and Silver Peak added new capabilities to their platforms. Master agents Telarus and TBI announced new supplier agreements, and a distributor expanded its relationship with a popular UCaaS provider.

It’s by no means an exhaustive list, but we’ve compiled some of the biggest product announcements in the indirect IT/telecom channel from December. Scroll through the 12 mini-stories below to see new products and services that channel partners can sell.

Telarus

The Utah-based master agent teamed up with the CLEC DynaLink Communications.

The supplier agreement gives Telarus subagents access to new mobility, VoIP and ISP solutions. A Telarus executive described DynaLink as a leader in the cellular space.

T-Mobile

The Bellevue, Washington-based carrier officially flipped the switch for its 5G network.

The network, which is said to reach 200 million people in about 5,000 municipalities, went live Dec. 2. T-Mobile announced two compatible smartphones that are now available.

T-Mobile's vision for 5G differs significantly from that of rivals AT&T and Verizon, as well as Sprint, which T-Mobile is trying to acquire.

Windstream

Kinetic, Windstream's residential and SMB unit, introduced a new home internet protection bundle that partners can sell. The bundle integrates mobile device management with Kinetic's managed Wi-Fi service.

“Few of our competitors have an all-inclusive suite of gateway security, identity theft and premium technical support to the degree and price found in our Kinetic Secure packs,” Windstream's vice president of Kinetic product development and management told us.

Juniper

Juniper Networks added software-defined local area network (SD-LAN) functionality to its software-defined wide area network

Customers praised the move, saying that SD-LAN helps companies simplify operations with zero-touch provisioning and granular application services as the WAN holds together multiple office locations.

Juniper in the same announcement unveiled three CPE devices.

TBI

The Chicago-based master added several new security offerings through a partnership with InterVision.

InterVision's lineup includes Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) and disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS). These solutions help customers compensate for the dearth of cybersecurity talent, according to Telarus executives.

Cisco

Cisco unveiled components of its "Internet of the Future" strategy after spending five years of R&D on the topic.

Two key elements are Cisco Silicon One, which the vendor calls the first networking silicon architecture, and the Cisco 8000 router series, which uses the new silicon as a foundation.

“What we’re trying to do is to create the backbone and foundation technology that is going to power the future implications of the internet, the things that we all care about,” Cisco chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins said.

Lifesize

Customers can buy "Rooms-as-a-Service" from the video collaboration and meeting productivity solutions provider.

Lifesize executives said the all-in-one subscription makes it easy and affordable for businesses to scale their meeting rooms as they grow.

“With Lifesize Rooms-as-a-Service, our partners can now help those customers more easily plan, budget for and scale their video technology improvements to meeting spaces and experiences,” Lifesize’s senior vice president of worldwide channels told Channel Partners.

The distributor enlarged its UCaaS portfolio by joining the Avaya Master Agent Program.

The two companies are expanding their relationship. Synnex and its partners will sell the the Avaya Cloud Office UCaaS solution. Avaya Cloud Office, which is the offspring of a strategic agreement between Avaya and RingCentral, will launch this quarter.

Tech Data

The distributor bolstered its software-defined storage portfolio by expanding its relationship with StorOne.

StorOne CEO Gal Naor said Tech Data partners will deliver StoreOne's all-flash arrays as a service (AFAaaS). He said every Tech Data partner can access the solution without signing a direct agreement with the vendor.

"All procedures are now streamlined and partners can be selling immediately," Naor told Edward Gately.

SonicWall

Managed security service providers (MSSPs) can tap into SonicWall's expanded security suite.

SonicWall rolled out a new customer management dashboard, where MSSPs can manage onboarding and various management tasks for their clients.
