New Services Roundup: Vonage, Level 3, EarthLink, More

Based on our latest new services roundup, it’s pretty clear that SD-WAN and security are becoming increasingly important in the channel. And just about everything new is cloud-based.

New offerings from some of the biggest names in the telecom and IT channels are here: Level 3, Vonage, Microsoft, CenturyLink and Cisco — to name a few.

New Services: Level 3

Level 3 Communications announced Adaptive Threat Intelligence, a security solution that gives customers customized threat intelligence and alerting.

The company said the solution uses Level 3’s global Internet visibility and security experts to give customers a managed service. It is cloud-based and available in all regions.

New Services: Vonage

Vonage launched a voice API through its recently acquired communications platform, Nexmo.

The new Nexmo API is Integrated with Vonage’s network. Vonage said it will allow developers to build enterprise communications that are customized for apps, websites or any voice-based communication systems.

New Services: CenturyLink-Cloudera

Cloudera expanded its partnership with CenturyLink to deliver big data as a service, with the goal of helping customers gain value from all of their data.

CenturyLink’s Global IT Services is delivering a fully managed big-data offering powered by Cloudera Enterprise. The telco will use the Cloudera platform to perform advanced analytics for software-defined networks (SDN) and network virtualization to monitor and further optimize its global communications network.

New Services: EarthLink

EarthLink launched EarthLink SD-WAN, a cloud-delivered network service designed to help with network optimization.

EarthLink said the SD-WAN offering allows businesses to use a unified commerce platform and harness IoT to improve customer experience.

New Services: MegaPath

MegaPath announced its new Call Center Premium service. The company said the service expands the its portfolio to support all call-center environments. The service is designed to manage heavy call volumes and offer Interactive Voice Response and Automated Call Distribution.

New Services: Cisco

Cisco unveiled a handful of new cloud-security services, promising that its architectural approach reduces the average time to detection to less than 13 hours — faster than the industry standard of 100 days.

The services include Cisco Umbrella Roaming, Cisco Defense Orchestrator and Cisco Meraki MX Security Appliances with Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) and Threat Grid.

New Services: Microsoft

Microsoft announced a bevy of security, intelligence and cloud products and/or services designed to help customers along their digital-transformation journey — as well as new and free training and educational resources for IT professionals.

In a separate announcement aimed at bolstering users’ marketing and branding experience, the vendor partnered with Adobe. The flurry of announcements came on the opening day of the annual Microsoft Ignite conference.

New Services: Splunk

Splunk announced new versions of its Enterprise, IT Service Intelligence (ITSI), Enterprise Security and User Behavior Analytics products. All are available on-premises or in the cloud and are aimed at making it faster and easier to turn machine data into useful business and operational intelligence, accessible by nontechnical users.

New Services: Silver Peak-Masergy

Silver Peak entered into a partnership agreement with service providerMasergy to deliver a new managed SD-WAN service to its enterprise customers.

The new service is based on Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect and Unity Boost. The agreement expands the Masergy Managed Network f(n) portfolio with managed SD-WAN offerings. With the addition of Silver Peak to the Masergy Managed Network f(n) portfolio, enterprises will have: the ability to deploy an SD-WAN within existing network environments; multiple options to connect users to applications at all times; levels of reporting and analytics that provide customers with granular visibility into their legacy and cloud applications; and security and control for all connectivity options.

New Services: Symantec

Symantec introduced Endpoint Protection Cloud, a new solution for small and midsize businesses to protect against targeted attacks and ransomware.

Symantec said its latest security report found 65 percent of targeted attacks victimized SMBs in 2015.

New Services: Acumatica

Acumatica announced the release of its latest cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) product, Acumatica 6.

New features include: an Acumatica add-in for Microsoft Outlook; dashboards with a large selection of visualizations, pivot tables and Microsoft Power BI; and a new, contract-based representational state transfer (REST) application programming interface (API). Acumatica’s customers are small and midsize companies.

New Services: Nimble Storage

Nimble Storage, the flash storage provider, launched a tool that will help resellers analyze storage environments of prospective clients.

The San Jose-based company announced SiteAnalyzer, a cloud-based tool that lets partners give clients a free storage analysis and recommendation. Executives from the company say the tool will speed up the sales cycle by eliminating the need to do manual discovery. The solution aims to allow resellers to gain “immediately actionable” insights.
