New Services Roundup: CenturyLink, Mitel, Masergy, More

  • Written by James Anderson
  • September 7, 2018
There were multiple alliances between IT companies and telcos.

A diverse mix of vendors made new products available to channel partners last month.

Although we’ve seen a steady stream of IT companies comprising the New Services Roundup this summer, the telcos got into the action in August.

Data-focused companies like Cohesity, StorageCraft both released new products, and Dell had no shortage of announcements. But we also saw UCaaS vendors launch or update offerings, including Masergy, which collaborated with Cisco, and Mitel, which announced a contact-center offering.

And CenturyLink made a move in the cloud.

Scroll through the 13 slides below to see the latest products and services vendors brought into the channel in August.

Missed last month’s roundup? Find the July recap here.

CenturyLink

CenturyLink rolled out private network connectivity to the IBM Cloud through CenturyLink Cloud Connect.

The direct connectivity establishes low-latency connections on a global basis across a private network to the IBM Cloud through IBM Cloud Direct Link. Cloud Connect gives partners the ability to give their customers private connections to IBM Cloud for “improved security, predictable performance and high-bandwidth that is ideal for hybrid cloud use cases, versus typical internet connectivity.”

Edward Gately has the story.
Masergy

Masergy's global UCaaS offering now includes collaboration endpoints from Cisco’s 8800 and 6800 series.

Masergy is accommodating IP telephones to give users benefits that include: a localized calling experience; a global unified dial plan; and voice, video and instant messaging with contextual correlation.

You can find the rest of the benefits listed in Edward Gately's article.
Mitel

Mitel rolled out its first standalone offering, MiCloud Engage Contact Center, and the latest version of its MiCloud Flex UCaaS.

The over-the-top MiCloud Engage CCaaS platform allows a data-driven omnichannel experience, including the ability to work with any call-control platform and integrate with a variety of third-party customer relationship management (CRM) apps. MiCloud Flex allows customer interactions via any device.

Get details on the two solutions.
Avant

The Chicago-based master agent continues to push out supplier partnerships.

First, Avant picked BCN, which provides voice, data, wireless and cloud services. The companies said BCN will help Avant subagents customize and deliver solutions for customers, including network monitoring, SD-WAN and 4G wireless backup.

Avant also teamed up with Green Cloud Technologies, the provider of infrastructure as a service and other cloud services.

Learn more about the expanded portfolio Avant subagents will get from BCN and Green Cloud.
Dell

Dell Technologies updated its cloud platform and dove into an interesting technology niche.

Dell introduced its first surveillance offer – the IoT Solution for Surveillance – via its Edge and IoT division. The company also announced cloud-based enhancements that stretch across platforms, infrastructure, solutions and its services portfolio. Subsidiary Dell EMC formally announced its PowerEdge MX architecture.

Read about the cloud and IoT news, as well as an expansion of services designed to work in tandem with VMware.
Dell Boomi

Dell Boomi tackled employee on-boarding with the introduction of the Onboarding Solution Accelerator.

The new product is designed to streamline the on-boarding process so new employees are supported and productive from day one. Dell Boomi partner GearsCRM built the new solution. Dell Boomi employees functioned as pilot subjects for the accelerator.

Read more about the new offering.
Veeam

The backup and disaster recovery provider announced two partnerships.

365 Data Centers now is offering its data protection services through Veeam as a Silver Veeam Cloud and Service Provider (VCSP) partner. And managed cloud provider RapidScale expanded its data backup and storage partnership with Veeam for a secure cloud-based backup offering.

Read our stories about the 365 Data Centers and RapidScale agreements.
Pivot3

One vendor uses the word "ruggedized" to describe its new hybrid cloud solution.

Pivot3 launched its Intelligent Edge Command and Control solution designed to support defense, intelligence and other operations at the “tactical edge.”  The company said the offering is optimized for analytics, virtual desktop infrastructure and IoT use cases.

Pivot3 made the announcement at VMworld.
VMware

The virtualization giant announced changes to the VMware Cloud Provider Platform to help its cloud providers monetize the multicloud future of IT.

The new extensions to the VMware Cloud Provider Platform include giving partners the ability to modernize their own VMware Cloud-based cloud, and the flexibility to expand their offering with an “asset light” model – for example, VMware on AWS – and enabling partners to build multicloud managed services with VMware’s cloud services.

Lynn Haber wrote a story about the enhancements.
Cohesity

The hyperconverged secondary storage vendor announced a secondary data and app orchestration and management solution.

The SaaS-based Cohesity Helios uses analytics and machine learning (ML) to generate insights from untapped data. The offering also helps companies with business continuity across their secondary infrastructure with proactive health checks.

Read more about the product release, which came after Cohesity raised $250 million in Series D funding.
StorageCraft

StorageCraft unveiled a product it had developed for about a year.

The vendor introduced OneXafe, a converged scale-out storage and data protection platform for physical and virtual environments, and ShadowXafe, a set of software-only data protection services.

The company's senior director of product management told Channel Partners that rival vendors have "abandoned" midmarket companies, which can't afford their solutions.

Learn more about StorageCraft's play for the midmarket.
Panasonic

Panasonic is refreshing two of its existing industrial-grade Windows tablets.

The company has consolidated its rugged portfolio of mobile devices, tablets and laptop PCs under the Toughbook brand. Panasonic is rebranding its handheld devices and tablets from Toughpads to Toughbooks.

Jeffrey Schwartz was on the scene in New York City hearing from Panasonic executives about the changes.
Qualys

Information security and compliance company Qualys rolled out a new cybersecurity platform for consultants and MSPs.

Qualys Consulting Edition delivers consultants, consulting firms and MSPs the ability to perform multiple ongoing vulnerability assessment engagements from a single, centralized and self-updating platform that allows them to consolidate their technology stack, including on-premises environments, endpoints and clouds, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

Edward Gately has the scoop.
