Level 3 Communications unveiled a new cloud-based service built into its global network to replace on-premises security infrastructure.

The Enterprise Security Gateway (ESG) uses Level 3’s global fiber footprint, network capacity and next-generation security services in its cloud-based gateways. It is delivered from 40 Level 3 points of presence globally, can protect data on any device and is available to subscribers of any carrier.

ESG becomes available June 30.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions is rolling out a new cloud backup service designed to support customers using virtualized infrastructures. It’s part of a partnership with Actifio.

The service, available starting this month in North America – and in Europe and Asia Pacific by fall – uses the copy data virtualization company’s technology platform. The goal is to enable a unified hybrid-cloud environment where data is “easy to manage, access and protect.”

CenturyLink launched Runner, a configuration management and orchestration service that works across hybrid-IT architectures and diverse cloud environments.

Runner aims to reduce private-cloud complexity and administrative workload by allowing for “fast and easy automation of infrastructure in any cloud or data center,” the company said. It offers automation and orchestration on the CenturyLink Cloud Platform, as well as on third-party cloud providers and on-premises infrastructures and devices.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and SAP unveiled significant new services during IoT World 2016.

HPE announced availability of the HPE Universal IoT Platform, which enables the ability to add new functionality and benefits to users, acting as a “driving force in building the infrastructure that enables the growth of IoT,” according to the company.

SAP SE unveiled new services for customers and partners on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for IoT.

At EMC World in Las Vegas, EMC rolled out a number of products and services centered around the development modern data center.

The first was EMC Unity, a new family of storage systems designed to help simplify storage for IT administrators. The other big product news was the launch of the Virtustream Storage Cloud, which the company says offers enterprise levels of resiliency and performance combined with true Web scale.

Global Capacity, the connectivity-as-a-service provider, released Connect Marketplace, life-cycle manager software built to simplify the process of designing of multi-site architectures.

Connect Marketplace allows customers to identify, price and order network connectivity, and it gives visibility and analytics to carriers, service providers and system integrators.

Masergy Communications added new service-management capabilities to its UCaaS Analyst performance monitoring portal.

The company added a means of viewing both user profiles and service inventory reports while on UCaaS Analyst. The changes allow members of IT to see details of user types, the services and devices they are using, and profile status. The enhancements are available on-demand.

MetTel announced an SD-WAN solution aimed at enterprise and midmarket customers that it says can reduce total cost of ownership, improve application performance and make it simple to pull in branch offices via remote provisioning based on pre-defined policies.

Tech distributor Ingram Micro said its U.S. partners will be able to sell Microsoft Azure through Ingram’s cloud marketplace. The access comes via Ingram’s participation in the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider Program.

Ingram Micro executives have said Azure’s presence in the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace will give partners a “true consumption-based model.”

Citrix announced updates to the company’s product lines, including data and cloud delivery, networking and enterprise mobility, to support the digital business transformation.

The new products and services deliver a unified workspace as a service, with access to apps and data from anywhere. The on-demand workspaces also give IT the ability to deliver and manage it all from a single, unified control plane.

In addition, the company also said it has selected Microsoft Azure as its preferred and strategic cloud going forward.

Technology distributor Synnex is bringing iXsystems’ storage solutions portfolio to North American solution providers. Partners can now order iXsystems storage products.

iXsystems’ portfolio includes the TrueNAS Unified Storage and FreeNAS Storage lines. iXsystems is the developer of FreeNAS, which is a software-defined storage project.

IntelePeer, the cloud-based UC provider, enhanced its SIP service to better optimize network resources and save costs during call transfers.

The company said the new implementation control will let customers use a web-based customer portal to enable or disable service on their SIP trunks. The service, called Cloud Transfer, offers customers a native IP.
