Distribution giant Ingram Micro attracted 1,400 attendees to its 9th Cloud Summit, held in sunny Boca Raton, Florida, April 30-May 2.
In a cloud market that’s estimated to be worth $250 billion in 2018, Ingram Micro and its vendor partners explored the “infinite possibilities” that the cloud offers partners to build their business today and well into the future.
As Renee Bergeron, senior vice president, global cloud channel at Ingram Micro told attendees, “Make no mistake. Now is the time to invest, grow and scale your business.”

The 'Cloud Awesomeness Roadmap'
Ingram Micro wants partners to be worried about their cloud journey if they aren’t actively building their cloud business. Why? Because the 2018 $250 billion cloud market is there for the taking and the distributor wants its 45,000 partners, globally, to grab a big share of it.

Cloud Awesomeness. The road map includes four stages: build, breadth, depth and scale.
Keynote Speaker Lineup
SAP CEO Bill McDermott was one of 13 keynote speakers at Ingram Micro Cloud Summit. During his inspiring session, and follow-up Q&A with the recently hired Tom Peck, executive vice president, chief information and digital officer at Ingram Micro, he gave attendees a heads-up on company news.
McDermott said that SAP Hana will soon be able to retrieve data from a system source not in Hana, analyze it without moving it, and transact the data, giving users the end-to-end process. Stay tuned.
Think Lifetime Customers
Michelle Bailey, group vice president and general manager at
IDC, wowed attendees with her facts and figures about the long-term impacts of emerging and disruptive technologies.
One piece of advice she gave partners: “You’ve got to stop thinking of customers by new builds and start thinking of them as lifetime customers."
Partner Meetings
Partnering in the channel is growing in importance as offering a full solution often involves multiple players. Here’s one awesome venue for partner meetings at the resort.
Partners also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on labs for training and certifications.
Microsoft and CloudBlueMicrosoft’s vice president, IoT and mixed reality sales, Rodney Clark, delivered a keynote about intelligent solutions from the edge to the cloud. The vendor also displayed its connected security vehicle (above) on the Solutions Showcase floor.
It was Ingram Micro's partnership with Microsoft around CloudBlue that got special attention. Gavriella Schuster, corporate vice president, One Commercial Partner, was on hand for the news announcement.
“By re-platforming CloudBlue onto Azure, this gives our mutual customers the opportunity to take advantage of the scale, global, hybrid and trusted network that Azure provides. It also provides an opportunity for us to go out and bring new cloud solution providers onto the platform – Azure – and into the Microsoft ecosystem and CSP program,” she said.
The Solutions Showcase
More than two-dozen vendors and sponsors filled the Solutions Showcase floor. Microsoft, Autotask, DocuSign, IBM Cloud, ShoreTel, VMware, Entrust and Cisco were among the exhibitors.
Ingram Micro SMB Alliance & Trust X Alliance
Communities are the rage these days. Ingram Micro’s SMB Alliance members and Trust X Alliance members understand the value of getting involved.
Each community held a cocktail hour for members to socialize and connect.

The Boca Raton Resort & Club partners with an art gallery. Resort visitors can view art at every turn. During his day, Andy Warhol was recognized for his Brillo sculpture series.
RoambeeRoambee exhibited in the IoT portion of the Solution Showcase. The vendor offers real-time, end-to-end monitoring solutions for packages, containers, trailers and trucks.
Infinite Celebration
After a few days of keynote sessions, hands-on training, 100+ education sessions, meetings, the Solutions Showcase and more, partners got to celebrate their current success and future goals at the Infinite Celebration Party —oceanside.
