New Services Roundup: Avaya & Zang
Avaya unveiled a partner-led Internet of Things security and management offering that runs on any vendor’s network. Avaya Surge, formerly SDN Fx Healthcare, was announced during the company’s Engage conference in Las Vegas. Surge will be available through Avaya channel partners in the second quarter.

But that wasn’t all. Avaya also announced the general availability of Equinox, which it calls “the industry’s first real unified communications solution.” Equinox delivers mobile-first communications on devices and embedded into the applications and browsers that employees use.

Meantime, Zang, an Avaya subsidiary, launched Zang Office and Zang Spaces during Avaya Engage. Brian Dingwall, senior product manager for Zang’s apps portfolio, said both services provide new revenue opportunities for partners.

New Services Roundup: CenturyLink
It was a busy month on the new product front from CenturyLink, which unveiled a new IBM-based EMM solution and a Cloud Application Manager.
But the one likely to impact partners the most is the consolidation of four Ethernet offerings into one product. The new solution, which is compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 2.0 standard, is available in 35 markets, and is a product CenturyLink said is consistent with what competitors are offering.

New Services Roundup: HPE
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) introduced SecureData for Hadoop and IoT, a solution designed to secure information that goes through IoT environments. It uses Apachi NiFi integration, which HPE said is a “first-of-its-kind” in the industry.

New Services Roundup: SonicWall
SonicWall announced version 9.0 of its Email Security service, hot on the heels of its 2017 SonicWall Annual Threat Report that compiles findings from the SonicWall Global Response Intelligence Defense Threat Network into a summary of the security challenges customers will face in the coming year.

New Services Roundup: Nitel
Nitel, the managed telecom service provider, got into the software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) game after selecting a vendor for the technology.
Nitel partnered with Versa Networks and plans to launch the offering in April. The company says it took a longer waiting period to evaluate vendors until it found a sufficiently mature product.

Unify expanded its Circuit platform with the Circuit Meeting Room video conferencing solution. The company said the collaboration platform supports a mobile workforce. Unify also added functionality to Circuit with a new desktop option.

New Services Roundup: Amazon
Amazon launched its Workspaces desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) and Chime, a UC service that combines voice, video, chat and online meetings.

New Services Roundup: Masergy
Masergy launched its new Cloud Contact Center, which provides an omnichannel system aimed at helping companies transition to a unified cloud platform.
The new service is an extension of Masergy’s UCaaS offering, and determines how best to route each customer interaction based on predictive analytics.

New Services Roundup: EarthLink
EarthLink teamed up with Boston Retail Partners to launch “a true unified commerce platform.” EarthLink will provide its voice, network and hosting services – including SD-WAN – and BRP will provide consulting and implementation.

New Services Roundup: Nimble Storage
Nimble Storage launched a new enterprise-grade, multi-cloud storage service for running applications on Microsoft Azure and AWS.
Nimble Cloud Volumes will provide enterprise-grade availability and data services that previously have not been readily available in block storage for the cloud, according to the company. These capabilities are needed for moving the next wave of applications to the cloud – traditional transactional workloads – which place stringent requirements on storage, it said.

New Services Roundup: Toshiba Telecom
Toshiba Telecom introduced its new IPedge ES Server, the newest member of its family of IPedge VoIP business communications systems.
Designed for smaller businesses with up to 24 employees, the IPedge ES compact, single-server solution costs 50 percent less than Toshiba’s IPedge EP system, the next up in size.

New Services Roundup: Broadvoice
Broadvoice, the hosted voice, UC and SIP trunking service provider, introduced Managed Firewall and Cyber Security services. In addition, the company debuted a virtual MPLS service for businesses with multiple locations.
