CenturyLink, Windstream, WTG Top New Services Roundup

  • Written by James Anderson
  • November 8, 2018
McAfee, Cisco, Ingram Micro and more are also featured here.

There’s a little bit of everything going on in the channel as it pertains to new products and services.

The various niches of IT and telecom are diversifying and expanding their portfolios in hopes of attracting you, the partner. Our latest monthly services recap lays out 12 of the most significant announcements.

They all vary. There are carriers, vendors, master agents and distributors. Some of the new offerings help customers, and others are tools and resources for partners. And sometimes the services come in unusual packages. Ingram Micro’s new facility is a good example of a very big package.

They’ve also developed these services in unique ways.

Two stories feature security vendors that added products through acquisition, and a new SD-WAN product hit the market as a result of a partnership between a big service provider and a networking vendor.

Scroll through the slides below to see the new products and services in the channel.

Missed last month’s recap? Check out the September edition.

Windstream

The carrier's latest product update reflects its goal of delivering an "omnichannel experience.”

Windstream Enterprise XCaaS service now lets enterprise and midmarket companies link customer contacts across voice, digital and open-media channels. The enhancement uses Mitel’s 4.1 version of its unified communications as a service (UCaaS) and contact center as a service (CCaaS) offerings.

Hear from the company's channel chief about the enhancement.
CenturyLink

Why just have one SD-WAN offering?

CenturyLink was already working with Versa Networks to offer managed SD-WAN, but it partnered with Cisco to add an SD-WAN service to its portfolio. The company's customers can now deploy Managed Cisco SD-WAN, which Cisco subsidiary Viptela powers with its virtualized network platform and vEdge routers.

Learn more about the new offering.
WTG

Master agent WTG announced a couple of new suppliers that will complement its portfolio and give its subagents more things to sell.

The company partnered with Sprint in order to give partners access to the Sprint "IoT in a Box" solution. WTG also teamed up with Vivial, which provides a SaaS-based marketing platform for customers and partners.

Read about the respective partnerships with Sprint and Vivial.
Sprint

The carrier announced that its SD-WAN platform can service customers that are located in or have remote offices in Asia Pacific, Latin America, North America and Europe. The announcement lands Sprint squarely among a host of SD-WAN providers touting their international reach to customers.

Sprint's cloud-based offering transports workloads through both public internet and MPLS (private) networks. Sprint first launched the platform in spring 2017.

Learn more about Sprint's SD-WAN efforts.
Ingram Micro

The distributor laid out several new resources before and during its partner conference, but here's one of the biggest: an 11,000 sq. ft. technical facility.

The facility is a custom Integration Center in Mira Loma, California, designed to help partners protect customers’ intellectual property. The building is designed to be CFIUS-compliant, backed with a 1MW diesel generator and to never go down in a power outage. Partners can also can remotely access their onsite products via a secure VPN prior to shipping.

Get details on the new resource.
Reinvent

Reinvent Telecom unveiled Cloud2Edge (C2E) Complete, a network-management tool resellers can deliver as a service.

C2E Complete allows partners to preemptively troubleshoot their customers' problems and up-sell using a bundle of managed network services that add to VoIP and UCaaS offerings.

Read Reinvent's announcement.
Carbonite

The data protection provider enhanced its IT management capabilities and added backup solutions.

The Carbonite Server VM Edition now has virtual machines backup, meaning that customers can recover their virtual-machine data without having to visit all of their locations. The company also rolled out a version of the Server Backup VM targeted specifically to managed service providers.

Read Carbonite's full announcement.
HPE

HPE is moving its StoreOnce data protection appliances to the latest "Gen 10" hardware. The enhanced version of StoreOnce is sold as a virtual machine or as the StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA).

HPE announced a few other things, including integration with Commvault for secondary storage and the extension of HPE Recovery Manager Central (RMC) 6.0 to include Nimble Storage.

Lynn Haber has the story.
McAfee

McAfee partners will get their hands on Skyhigh Networks' new cloud access security software after the former bought the latter.

Skyhigh Networks is known for its Mvision product portfolio, a cloud-native suite that allows customers to deploy security on their terms as they move to the cloud.

McAfee has committed to going cloud-native earlier this year.

Edward Gately wrote about CEO Chris Young's comments and the details of the Mvision portfolio.
AppDirect

AppDirect enhanced its commerce platform to help partners add, bundle, price and distribute new products and services.

The platform enhancements include a next-generation checkout, report-builder tool and a new storefront builder. The AppDirect platform now offers a marketplace with support for a range of products, including those with recurring billing.

AppDirect made the announcement at its digital economy summit.
Check Point

Check Point Software Technologies enhanced its Infinity architecture and cloud-security offering by buying cloud security startup Dome9.

The Dome9 portfolio will help partners with the adoption of public cloud services on multicloud environments, using advanced active policy enforcement and multicloud protection capabilities.

Dome9 customers use its platform to secure multicloud deployments across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

Edward Gately wrote about Check Point and its broadened portfolio in his recent security roundup.
Intermedia

The cloud communications and collaboration provider launched a provisioning wizard for its UC&C platform.

Partners and customers can now more easily provision provision accounts using Intermedia Unite. The UCaaS platform already included a phone system, screen sharing, backup, video collaboration and other features.
