New Products, Services: CenturyLink, Verizon, More

  • Written by James Anderson
  • August 9, 2019
The telecom and IT sides of the channel (and everything in between) courted partners to sell their new goods last month.

CenturyLink, Navisite and Poly announced new or updated solutions in July 2019.

Our monthly new services poundup compiles the most newsworthy portfolio updates in the indirect technology sales channel. The telecom and IT sides of the channel (and everything in between) courted partners to sell their new goods. The lineup is diverse. An SD-WAN vendor, a storied business phone system provider and an MSSP made our list.

We’ve got distributors here too. Synnex enhanced its line card and Tech Data announced a new IoT initiative. And the master agent TBI boosted its portfolio by signing a couple of new suppliers.

Scroll through the photos below to see the channel’s new products and services.

Growth
CenturyLink

CenturyLink has embarked on building a 4.7 million mile "intercity" fiber network.

The company has teamed up with Corning Inc. and built 3.5 million fiber miles in North America, and it will add a European presence as well. The company stated that it will complete the network by early 2021 after connecting it to more than 50 major U.S. cities.

Get details about the network.

Growth
Poly/Ribbon

Ribbon Communications' latest application server includes support for Poly's VVX desktop phones.

The integration came as the U.S. Department of Defense announced plans to use the desktop phones in its largest VoIP deployment yet. Poly's executive president of strategy said the integration was certified by the DoD Joint Interoperability Test Command’s Defense Information Systems Agency.

Read about them in Edward Gately's UC Roundup.
Growth
Microsoft

Several influential technology vendors launched new products at the Microsoft Inspire conference.

Barracuda Networks said its integration with Azure Virtual WAN will make the Office 365 experience more secure and less expensive. Industrial IoT provider Behr Tech launched a new low-power wide area network (LPWAN) and device management software platform. Finally, a robotic process automation vendor announced that it will use Azure to provide intelligent automation solutions.

Take a look at yet another Lynn Haber story.
Growth
Verizon

Verizon launched Software-Defined Interconnect (SDI), which connects customers to any Equinix International Business Exchange data center in the world.

Verizon's partnership with Equinix allows customers private IP network to provision their network traffic through the Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric (ECX). An IDC analyst said the SDN offering enhances Verizon's MPLS network.

Verizon sold 29 of its data centers to Equinix in 2017.

Get details on the partnership.

Growth
TBI

The Chicago company's subagents can now sell CoreSite and NetFortris solutions.

TBI upped its data-center colocation and interconnection portfolio by signing CoreSite. The master agent also got its hands on a new communications platform by partnering with NetFortris, which acquired Fonality two years ago.

Growth
Synnex

The distributor added a cloud network solutions provider to its portfolio.

Arista Networks, which focuses on large data center and campus environments, joined the Synnex line card. Arista recently launched new unified wired and wireless campus edge products and introduced a new hybrid cloud architecture utilizing Azure.

Resellers can pull from the entire Arista cognitive cloud networking portfolio.

Check out another Lynn Haber ditty.
Growth
Big Switch

The networking vendor revamped its Big Monitoring Fabric (Big Mon), which troubleshoots application performance using analytics.

The update gives midmarket customers access to Big Mon capabilities and brings monitoring and analytics to edge locations. Big Switch's chief product officer said partners can increase their deal result as a result of lowering the pricing threshold.

“The challenge for many of these companies is that these tools are very expensive and [they] often have limited staff. They need operational simplicity in order to have their existing staff do more,” Prashant Gandhi said.

Lynn Haber covered the news for Channel Futures.
Growth
Navisite

Navisite enhanced its managed security service by integrating Alert Logic's threat management platform.

Alert Logic is an MSSP whose capabilities combine with Navisite to meet key detection, response and remediation requirements. The integration helps channel partners address the security skills gap with a more complete offering.

Spectrum Enterprise owns Navisite.

Edward Gately has the scoop.

Growth
Peerless

Peerless Network launched enterprise-focused cloud PBX that can be customized through an automated provisioning platform.

The Chicago-based vendor said the new UCaaS model does not require third-party routing fees or need customers to buy their own equipment. Customers will manage all aspects of the cloud-based IP network through a single system.

“It’s easy to use, can be done on-site and without spending countless hours on the phone with a sales rep or agent,” Peerless’ executive vice president of sales and marketing told us.

Learn more about the new system.
Growth
Telesystem

The business communications company packs voice, texting, chat and email features into its new Omni Channel Contact Center (OCCC) offering.

Telesystem unveiled its new CCaaS solution, which features interactive voice response and automatic call distribution. Partners and customers can set up the service "a la carte" to meet their specific needs and lower the total cost of ownership.

Get details on the new Telesystem offer.

Growth
FatPipe

FatPipe Networks and RingCentral partnered to utilize SD-WAN and UCaaS together.

RingCentral customers can license FatPipe's virtual machine from AWS, run it alongside RingCentral’s hosted solution and buy FatPipe for their branch or headquarters.

RingCentral executives said the SD-WAN vendor helps customers manage jitter and latency. FatPipe reported that it tallied a higher mean opinion score (MOS) than its competitors using the RingCentral platform.

Growth
Tech Data

The distributor launched a new analytics and IoT program featuring more than 30 solutions.

Microsoft and Intel are sponsoring Analytics and IoT Solutions Catalog, which targets vertical-specific use cases. About 200 select North American and European partners can join the program.

Channel Futures covered Tech Data's updated catalog.
