Wasmer Rejoins VMware as End-User Computing VP

Noah Wasmer has returned to VMware (VMW) after a two-year absence, assuming the position of vice president of End-User Computing.

Wasmer, who held high-level positions at MobileIron (MOBL) and Apple (APPL), rejoined VMware earlier this month, said Sanjay Poonen, executive vice president and general manager of VMware’s End-User Computing division. In his new role, Wasmer will be responsible for furthering the company’s enterprise software success.

Wasmer joined VMware in 2007, responsible for product management for several of the initial VMware View product releases, Poonen said. Wasmer also contributed to what is now the virtualization company’s Horizon product line, including the recently released Horizon 6 earlier this year.

“Noah played a meaningful role in advancing VMware’s longer term vision of securely connecting users to diverse apps and data across any device,” said Poonen in a blog post. “You may remember the introduction at VMworld 2010 – with what was then called ‘Project Horizon.’ Four years later, Noah’s vision has really taken shape here at VMware.”

After leaving VMware, Wasmer served as the VP of Product Management and a member of the executive team at MobileIron, the mobile IT company responsible for products including MobileIron Atlas and Sentry for iPad. After his tenure at MobileIron, Wasmer served as iPad Product Marketing manager at Apple.

“It is a tremendous honor to return to VMware with this amazing team,” said Wasmer in a statement. “I am excited to see how far market-leading solutions like VMware Horizon View 6 and AirWatch by VMware can take our original vision.

“It is incredibly rewarding to see desktop administrators delivering direct value to their businesses by modernizing employees’ desktops, apps and content,” he continued. "I look forward to working with the VMware team to continue providing the very best enterprise solutions that both modernize access to existing apps and processes while seamlessly embracing cloud services and mobility.”
