VMware Updates Promos, Tools for Channel Partners
Virtualization honcho VMware (NYSE: VMW) has made a number of changes, updates, additions and various other tweaks to its channel partner program. Read on for the details.
New features and functionality have been added to My VMware software license management tool, including improvements to the My VMware dashboard for user management, license keys and contracts for channel partners and their customers, according to a blog post by Michelle Clopton, a VMware global support services communications manager. The vendor expects the new My VMware release will bring “an increase in overall customer satisfaction,” she noted.
The My VMware updates include:
- Streamlined access to frequent tasks by adding right click menus to the folder list in the Licensing area
- Improved access and visibility of license key notes
- Increased visibility for current account
- Enhanced access for downloading a product purchased from the online store
- Order Confirmation emails will now be sent to Partners on standard order types
VMware also has initiated a new demand generation campaign for its North American Healthcare Specialized Solution Providers. The campaign, which is offered free of charge, is intended to help the vendor’s healthcare specialized partners sell more desktop virtualization. VMware regularly updates marketing campaigns for specific programs or markets, and recently kicked off a new marketing campaign for its Zimbra email software.
VMware offers solution partners specializations in health care, education and government to drive cross-sell and upsell revenue in those fields. The designations, which supply partners with market-specific pricing and targeted information and materials, are earned by experience in the field and completing training.
And, VMware is running a sales promotion that rewards solution providers (and their accredited sales staff) with triple points—up to 4,500 Sales Rewards points—for every Advantage Plus deal registration sale closed by Dec. 31. Incentives may be combined for closing an approved Advantage Plus deal, acquiring a new customer or selling a specific VMware SKU. Rewards can be used to purchase merchandise, gift cards, travel and other similar activities.
VMware recently dropped the ceiling on its Advantage Plus deal registration to $6,000 from $10,000, agreed to validate new accounts—and the corresponding 10 percent discount—at the time of registration, and simplified the opportunity registration form.
