Storage architecture provider Skyera has achieved official VMware (VMW) Ready status for its skyHawk all-flash solid-state storage system, making the solution an officially supported device on VMware vSphere 5.5 and 5.5 U1 for production environments.

"By using skyHawk with vSphere 5.5 and 5.5 U1 enterprises can achieve much higher virtual-machine density than traditional storage for both server virtualization and VDI infrastructure," said Radoslav Danilak, co-founder and CEO of Skyera, in a statement. "With our capacity leading flash hardware and software, Skyera delivers a simple and extremely scalable solution for VMware environments that offers enterprise-class performance and reliability for the cost of disk."

For products to be deemed VMware Ready, they must undergo a series of detailed test procedures to ensure that they will work properly with vSphere 5.5. Skyera skyHawk is now available through the online VMware Solution Exchange (VSX) now that it has been approved for use with vSphere.

The VMware Ready program is a co-branding benefit of the Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program that makes it easy for customers to identify the products certified to work with VMware’s cloud infrastructure, according to the company. Currently, the VMware TAP program includes several thousand members worldwide.
