NAKIVO Releases v5 with Flash VM Boot for VMware
NAKIVO has released its NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5 solution with Flash VM Boot, which will allow VMware (VMW) users to run their virtual machines directly from compressed and deduplicated VM backups. NAKIVO said its solution is unique because users will not have to recover their virtual machines before recovering data, while the backup from which the VM is started remains unchanged during the recovery process.
NAKIVO recently released its NAKIVO Backup & Replication v5 solution with Flash VM Boot, which will allow VMware (VMW) users to run their virtual machines directly from compressed and deduplicated virtual machine (VM) backups. NAKIVO said its solution is unique because users will not have to recover their virtual machines before recovering data, while the backup from which the VM is started remains unchanged during the recovery process.
Users will be able to utilize Flash VM Boot directly out of the box for use with Windows or Linux-based virtual machines, according to NAKIVO. Straight from the press release, the solution also allows users to:
• Permanently recover VMs booted from backups
• Access files and application objects of any application on any OS within seconds
• Test system updates and application patches before applying them to production VMs
• Verify the VM backups and ensure that OS and applications run properly
• Copy VMDK files and then delete the virtual machine
“The ability to recover business-critical VMs within a short time frame is a top requirement for cloud providers, enterprises and SMBs. With the release of v5, we enable our customers to recover their VMs within seconds, thus providing the highest-possible recovery time objectives for production VMs,” said Bruce Talley, CEO and co-founder of NAKIVO, in a statement.
NAKIVO previously released Backup & Replication v4.1 in July. The company also added 500 VMware solution providers to its channel program, giving them the ability to offer the company’s product portfolio to their SMB, enterprise and cloud service providers.
NAKIVO’s new solution is VMware-certified and agentless. The solution also supports live applications and databases and can instantly recover files and application objects directly from compressed and de-duplicated VM backups, according to the company.
