Ensim Releases IaaS Manager 3.0 for VMware

Ensim has announced the general availability of its Ensim IaaS Manager 3.0 for VMware (VMW) today, designed to provide complete end-to-end managed cloud solutions to service providers. IaaS Manager 3.0 works in conjunction with the Ensim Automation Suite to complete support for evolving customer demands.

The IaaS Manager supports marketplace, service catalog, ordering, provisioning, orchestration, administration and billing functionality for customers, as well as hypervisors including VMware vSphere, Xen and KVM. The system can be managed by VMware vCloud Director and VMware vCloud Automation Center, in addition to Microsoft (MSFT) hypervisors and OpenStack from a single platform. According to Ensim, IaaS Manager enables users to rapidly and effectively create offers from service providers’ public, private or hybrid cloud-based IaaS solutions via a robust service catalog.

“Ensim’s IaaS Manager allows service providers and enterprises to leverage the combination of agility and control that our leading VMware solutions offer, and to incorporate the front and back-end functionalities necessary to commercialize the delivery of IT services via the cloud,” said Sanjay Katyal, vice president of Global Strategic Alliances at VMware, in a prepared statement.

IaaS Manager 3.0 allows users to enable usage tracking with billing and chargeback, and provides simplified, consistent self-service operations administration for the end user, IT admins, agents and resellers via an easy-to-use role-based portal, according to the press release. The new manager also features three-step virtual machine creation, network automation, SSO to virtual machine consoles and more.

“Service providers and even many enterprises need a way to commercialize cloud-based IT offers,” said Dave Wippich, CEO of Ensim. “Ensim IaaS Manager is able to work with VMware vCloud Director and VMware vCloud Automation Center to cost-effectively provide BSS/OSS functionality with multi-tenant and dedicated deployment architectures for public, private or hybrid clouds.”

IaaS Manager will support virtual machine management, including the ordering of individual virtual private servers (VPSs) as well as the purchase, deployment and management of virtual data centers (VDCs). The new software is expected to give users full control of managing their virtual data centers without the need to make a new purchase for additional virtual machines. Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) recently selected Ensim to support the company’s Unified Compute Platform (UCP) for VMware vSphere converged infrastructure in March.
