AirVM Announces vCloud Director Portal for ISVs

Cloud enablement software provider AirVM has announced the general availability of its AirSembly vCD portal for VMware (VMW) vCloud Director (vCD) 5.6. The portal will allow service providers to access vCD features online.

AirVM believes it is the first VMware independent software vendor (ISV) ecosystem partner to release a turnkey cloud portal designed for vCD 5.6. AirSembly also includes a marketplace storefront that will allow users to create, white-label and quote cloud services, in addition to providing provisioning and management tools, automated billing and invoicing.

“While other cloud portal providers have built their products to be hypervisor agnostic, AirSembly is exclusively built for VMware, the leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions,” said Joshua Vautour, CEO of AirVM, in a statement. “VMware’s global network of vCloud Air Network service providers now have a way to access new vCD 5.6 features such as virtual machine monitoring that are only available from an ISV portal.”

Three VMware vCloud Air Network service providers have chosen the AirSembly vCD portal, including Peak, RackForce Networks and German service provider Global Access, according to the announcement.

“VMware vCloud Director 5.6 is the first release designed exclusively for VMware vCloud Air Network service providers,” said Geoff Waters, vice president of service provider channel, Cloud Services Business Unit at VMware. “We are thrilled that AirVM is providing a vCD portal to the vCloud Air Network service provider community to simplify and accelerate the commercialization of their VMware-based cloud services.”
