NovaStor Enhances Cloud Backup Pitch to MSPs

NovaStor , a Europe-based data protection specialist, is reaching out to the managed service provider community. The latest effort involves a new NovaBACKUP xSP release that includes a VMware plugin, allowing agentless virtualized environment backup. Here’s the update.

NovaBACKUP xSP 12.0 adds a web-based central management console that allows the MSP to schedule backup jobs, set backup policies, and view backup logs, saving trips to the client’s site. And since it’s all automatic, it can make for a real, daily backup service, with the dashboard providing live status updates for the client machines, the company claims. NovaBACKUP stores data locally and in NovaStor’s cloud.

Meanwhile, that VMware plugin enables unlimited virtual machines on a VMware ESXi server with no agent, meaning no need to install NovaStor’s software on each instance. And it enables the backup of said virtual machines whether they’re online or offline.

No doubt, online backup and disaster recovery are hot opportunities in the managed services market. But it seems like there are dozens of backup specialists pursuing MSPs. MSPmentor wonders: Will there eventually be a market shakeout?
