Microsoft Launches Government Cloud Applications Center

Microsoft has quietly launched a Government Cloud Applications Center designed to bring state and local governments together with partners and solutions designed for the cloud. Here’s a quick look at the strategy.

In an official blog entry, Microsoft State & Local Government Social Media Marketing Manager Kristin Bockius says that the cloud applications portal gives the public sector the ability to efficiently find partners with solutions that are compatible with their existing IT infrastructure, meet their compliance needs, and, of course, locality.

The major benefit for partners, Bockius writes, is that they can show off their own portfolio of Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) or Windows Azure cloud platform solutions and products. And Microsoft says MSPs can link existing accounts back to their Government Cloud Applications Center profile to build their reputation.

With government agencies going to the cloud left and right, it's easy to understand why Microsoft has built a portal to highlight cloud solutions providers.
