Smart storage for virtualization and cloud environments provider Tintri has appointed former VMware (VMW) executive John Schwan as its new vice president of North American Channel Sales. In his new role, Schwan will be tasked with leading the company’s channel sales team to accelerate growth throughout the region.
"We are excited to have John join our executive field leadership team," said Tom Ellery, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales at Tintri, in a statement. "His business experience and exceptional reputation within the channel community further supports Tintri's expanding investments with channel partners across the Americas. With our heavy focus on the channel, John's arrival helps us grow our business and underscores our commitment to partners."
In addition to his responsibilities in driving sales growth, Schwan will also focus on educating and enabling partners to advance Tintri’s internal and external business relationships, according to the company. Prior to his appointment at Tintri, Schwan held several roles at VMware, including field engagement between the company and its top tier solutions providers in North America. Schwan brings with him more than 20 years of experience within the channel.
"I am thrilled to join the Tintri team. The company has quickly emerged as the go-to smart storage solution for both virtualization and the cloud and already has a strong channel culture in place," said Schwan. "I look forward to helping further develop the network of channel partners so that we can continue to drive expansion and growth to meet customer needs."
Schwan’s appointment as channel chief marks the second hiring of a former VMware executive by Tintri, with the company recently appointing Andrew Lee as the new executive vice president of Alliances. In April, the company announced the start of its global channel partner program, which unified its existing regional partner programs into a single unit. The new global partner program includes new features to help Tintri’s partners grow their businesses and take advantage of the company’s reseller benefits and training tools.
