Piston Cloud Computing is aiming to accelerate the adoption of OpenStack and its own Piston Enterprise OpenStack product with the announcement of a new OpenStack training series. The training series will kick off with "Deploying OpenStack for Cloud Administrators" in San Francisco May 8-9.
The first of the training courses will provide administrators with an introduction to OpenStack before diving into hands-on training labs to teach attendees about the installation and configuration of an OpenStack private cloud, instance management and migration, block storage, object storage and specific features for the enterprise.
"OpenStack is gaining widespread traction across industries and we are in a unique position to share strategic and tactical insights that will help drive broader adoption," said Jim Morrisroe, CEO of Piston Cloud, in a prepared statement. "To meet this growing demand, we've assembled a team of OpenStack experts who will help IT administrators and OpenStack end users learn the skills necessary to effectively deploy and utilize OpenStack. Making these training courses open to the public will enable customers to more easily and quickly realize the money and time-saving benefits of our enterprise OpenStack private cloud software."
Piston Cloud plans to make the training open to customers and partners in a variety of formats. Customized training workshops will also be available.
In addition to "Deploying OpenStack for Cloud Administrators," Piston Cloud will also launch:
- "OpenStack for End Users," a half-day introductory seminar that will teach end users how to provision compute, storage and networking resources using the OpenStack dashboard and the command line clients.
- "Building and Customizing OpenStack for Developers," a five-day training session to teach developers how to assess, modify and extend the sub-components of the OpenStack framework.
- "Use Case-Specific Training," which will provide specialized training for users and deployments targeting specific use cases, including Cloud Foundry integration, cloud storage best practices and multi-data center clouds using SDN.
