Zenoss Launches ZenPack Server Monitoring Tool for OpenStack

openstack

OpenStack, the free, open source cloud computing platform, is building a lot of momentum in the industry. It seems as though small service providers, multinational data center service providers and technology giants such as Intel alike are finding a lot of value in an open cloud standard. Unsurprisingly, a cloud developer community has sprung up around the platform with an eye on filling the gaps.

Take Zenoss, for example, which just launched a monitoring solution for OpenStack servers. Zenoss specializes in virtual, physical and cloud infrastructure monitoring and management, and this release extends its reach to OpenStack. Administrators using the Zenoss ZenPack for OpenStack can see server health, performance and inventory, ensuring application stability.

Oh, and did I mention ZenPack is free? And according to the press release, it gives the ability to monitor servers across providers, infrastructures and deployment types (physical, virtual, etc.).

According to Zenoss, it’s just meeting the demand of the rising number of OpenStack users. But my question is this: Right now, OpenStack has the attention and affections of the FOSS community. But will there be an opportunity for cloud ISVs to develop a business around building out the OpenStack experience and feature set?
