XO Communications COO Don MacNeil says channel partners can "use the new XO BoD feature to offer more flexibility for MPLS IP-VPN customers."

XO Communications this week said it has made a new bandwidth-on-demand (BoD) business networking capability available for its wide area networking (WAN) services, a solution set designed to securely connect customer locations.

The new BoD feature aims to enable cloud services by improving the availability and performance of cloud applications, and optimizing XO MPLS IP-VPN and XO VPLS (WANs) through a usage-based, automated scaling approach.

Through the new capability, IT administrators can set the minimal amount of bandwidth needed on an average monthly basis.

If network usage rises above the set level, the XO network connection will automatically expand to accommodate the extra traffic.

A rise in additional traffic can be attributed to something as simple as a customer accessing cloud resources.

XO Communications COO Don MacNeil said channel partners can now use the new XO BoD feature to offer “more flexibility for MPLS IP-VPN customers, especially those who are looking to leverage XO’s AWS Direct Connect partnership.”

The telecommunications company made news earlier this week by joining the Amazon Web Services Partner Network (APN) and supporting AWS Direct Connect.
