Will Dell Cloud Be World’s Largest Hosted Exchange Provider?
Dell Cloud will likely grow to become the world’s largest independent provider of hosted Exchange, a major software industry executive predicted today. The conversation, at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2012 (WPC12) in Toronto, involved a software industry CEO who is very familiar with the Dell cloud services provider strategy.
The software industry CEO claimed the Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) direct sales database contains about 14 million customer records. Moreover, Dell is among Microsoft’s top software OEMs, and likely has detailed records on thousands of Exchange email systems running on Dell PowerEdge servers.
As those on-premises email servers reach end of life, Dell is best positioned to move them into the Dell Cloud. Plus, Dell’s buyout of Quest Software positions the PC giant with extensive hosted Exchange and Office 365 migration services.
The software industry executive requested anonymity based on his internal knowledge of the Dell Cloud launch.
Meanwhile, Intermedia currently is the world’s top independent provider of hosted Exchange, managing more than 500,000 inboxes for customers, channel partners and cloud services providers that white label Intermedia’s services.
