Verizon Enterprise Solutions has announced the launch of Verizon Cloud Marketplace, the company’s online storefront for cloud-based services.
As of the launch, the Cloud Marketplace features pre-built cloud services from several partner companies, including AppDynamics, Hitachi Data Systems, Juniper Networks (JNPR), pfSense and Tervela.
Verizon Cloud Marketplace is available to all of the telecom giant’s Verizon Cloud customers, and is being billed as a one-stop shop for software-based cloud resources certified to operate in Verizon’s cloud environments, according to the company. The online portal offers self-service access to an assortment of applications for big data management, security, networking and software development, lessening the burden on IT staff to spend time configuring and deploying applications.
“The launch of Verizon Cloud Marketplace is an important milestone in the ongoing evolution of our cloud ecosystem,” said Siki Giunta, senior vice president of Cloud Services at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, in a statement. “Verizon Cloud Marketplace is all about simplifying and streamlining migration to the cloud, and enterprises using Verizon Cloud will now have access to a growing number of industry-leading cloud-based applications required to power their businesses in the digital age.”
Additional third-party virtual appliance and software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications as well as expanded support for cloud deployments, billing and pricing model enhancements are expected to hit the marketplace within the next several months, according to Verizon.
Several cloud onboarding services from Verizon are also available through the Cloud Marketplace to help users take full advantage of the capabilities of Verizon Cloud and simplify workload and application migration, according to the company.

Architecture Planning Engagement: Identifies best practices and creates strategy recommendations to integrate enterprise workloads and applications.
Proof of Concept Engagement: Demonstrates capabilities to help reduce data center costs, increase speed-to-market and fine tune infrastructure deployment, management and governance.
High Availability Engagement: Offers recommendations to support the availability, redundancy and delivery of cloud-based enterprise applications.
Optimization and Efficiency Engagement: Assesses the architecture of cloud deployments to help reduce costs and potential infrastructure and application performance issues.
Connectivity and Security Engagement: Recommends network and security best practices to help support the essential building blocks of enterprise cloud deployments.
Backup and Storage Engagement: Provides recommendations for building a strategy and implementation roadmap for deploying storage and backup capabilities.
VM Import/Export: Supports the migration of virtual machines into the Verizon Cloud.
The Verizon Cloud Marketplace is available now with public and virtual private cloud-reserved performance deployments. No-cost and bring-your-own license pricing models are available now, and Verizon is working to introduce metered billing options sometime in 2015.
