Backup and management company Veeam Software released Veeam Management Pack (MP) v6.5 this week, which eliminates single point of failure for monitoring VMware (VMW) by enhancing the solution’s fault tolerance.

To protect data from being lost when vCenter goes down, Veeam MP v6.5 will automatically fail over and reconfigure so that data will be collected directly from vSphere hosts. Veeam MP will then return to the default data collection method when vCenter is restored.

Veeam CEO Ratmir Timashev said in a prepared statement that the company has been developing management and data protection solutions for the past seven years.

“More than 2,500 enterprise customers licensing more than 100,000 sockets depend on the Veeam MP to manage vSphere with Microsoft System Center, a management framework they already know and trust,” he said.

The Veeam MP 6.5 integration with Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure can monitor a wide array of items including free disk space on proxy repositories, availability of WAN accelerators and backup proxies, and verification of virtual machine (VM) restorability.

Veeam MP v6.5 also provides new configuration tracking and alert correlation for all vSphere objects to show IT what has changed within the vSphere environment.

Veeam Software Vice President of Product Strategy Doug Hazelman offered an update on Veeam’s channel strategy and the company’s march toward 100,000 in August 2013.
