Telstra, Jamcracker Launch SaaS and Managed Services

Telstra and Jamcracker Partner On SaaS and Managed ServicesTalk about a small world. On November 13 I traded email with Mathew Dickerson, a managed service provider in Australia. He and I were discussing how Telstra — one of Australia’s top telecom service providers — may promote managed services and SaaS (software as a service) across the country.

A few days later we have our answer: Teltra and Jamcracker on November 17 announced a partnership to provide on-demand software and IP services to small and midsize businesses across Australia. Here are the details.

Telstra plans to offer Jamcracker-provided SaaS applications (and additional SaaS applications) as part of a major push beyond wired and wireless broadband services.

The first applications will include on-demand security offerings from McAfee and MessageLabs, online data backup from Iron Mountain, Hosted Exchange messaging and SharePoint collaboration services from Microsoft, as well as Microsoft Dynamics hosted CRM, according to a joint press release from Telstra and Jamcracker.

A Warehouse of MSP Options?

Jamcracker unveiled its Launchpad SaaS and managed services strategy back in June. Launchpad is a clearing house of sorts, allowing MSPs to choose from a range of hosted and on-depand services.

Following a recent trip to Australia, I estimated that the country has about 500 successful MSPs. It will be interesting to see how those MSPs react to Telstra’s hosted and on-demand applications.
