Teambox, Box Partner on New Cloud Storage Bundle

Cloud-based collaboration software provider Teambox has partnered with cloud storage and file syncing service provider Box to create a combined bundle offering for enterprises.

The new offering will give Teambox customers 15GB of free cloud data storage per user on Box's cloud service. That's for up to five users, after which the service costs $5 per user per month, although the 15GB is bumped up to unlimited storage space.

Additionally, the vendors' bundled services will include auditing and usage reporting from Box improve compliance, custom-branded file storage so organizations (say, resellers and cloud brokers) can offer their own branded storage and collaboration, two-way file syncing between Teambox and Box, and access and sharing of content from any device.

As Teambox noted in a prepared statement, email is "no longer a viable option for efficient project management," although it might be safe guess to say there are still plenty of businesses, particularly smaller organizations, that are still using email as their primary means of managing projects and "sharing" files. As more companies move to cloud storage and collaboration services, it's becoming even easier for customers to effectively manage their file-sharing and projects.

"With the consumerization of IT, we're seeing a trend of more and more customer employees storing their company files on unsecured networks. Teambox is addressing this trend by offering free secure storage from Box. Now, companies not only have unmatched team collaboration, but the confidence of accessing and sharing content from any device, any where and securely," said Dan Schoenbaum, CEO for Teambox, in a prepared statement.

Collaboration between cloud companies will make things even easier for customers—and for resellers, cloud services providers and cloud brokers that are trying to find the best way to get their customers in the cloud. Collaboration and workflow features and functionality from Teambox and cloud storage and file syncing from Box—and, more importantly, the integration between the two—customers using both services should be able to add more efficiencies to their own operations. That's something cloud partners can position as a differentiating factor.
