Syncplicity: Cloud File Management Launches Channel Program
Syncplicity, which provides cloud file management, has launched a channel program designed to help cloud integrators and solution providers add a new source of recurring revenue to their portfolios. The solution is designed for help desk support to get in and get out, and the Syncplicity Reseller Program lets the partner keep control of the relationship. And Google Apps Authorized Resellers should take special note.
According to Syncplicity CEO Leonard Chung, the company’s file management offering, which enables documents and data to be synced to Syncplicity’s Amazon S3 cloud storage backend and accessed anywhere, is a natural fit for the cloud VAR looking to move an enterprise to SaaS.
After all, most businesses probably have something similar deployed on-premises, so they understand the concept. And as with most cloud services, a Syncplicity Business Edition deployment can save on licensing and IT needs – potentially a sharp decrease in TCO.
The Syncplicity Reseller Program is fairly typical for a cloud services program. Syncplicity provides partners of all sizes — whether they serve 10-seat or Fortune 100 enterprises — with tools to help them master the purportedly simple deployment process. Resellers get a cut of revenue on the deployment, naturally, but also when customers renew Syncplicity licenses. And if the customer wants the partner to remotely manage their file management deployment, Syncplicity provides a tool for that too.
In theory it could be a win for Google Apps resellers. Chung says that Google and Syncplicity have as many as 26,000 customers in common, and to better support them, Google Apps logins work across both platforms. It even syncs documents from legacy software to the Google Docs cloud suite. That could be a valuable and useful value-added service for those companies that are going Google with partner support.
