SuccessFactors, VMware Partner to Enable Custom Cloud Apps
This prepared statement from VMware CEO Paul Maritz says it better than I could:
“This new project takes the Cloud Foundry vision one step further, enabling customers to extend and build custom applications around SuccessFactors to address specific business and vertical use cases, without restricting the choice of development frameworks, data or application services. Cloud Foundry helps ensure customers can build applications using open and industry-standard development technologies while preserving the flexibility to deploy across both public and private clouds. SuccessFactors and VMware are both committed to enabling custom development and integration across a broad ecosystem of SaaS providers.”
The first joint SuccessFactors/VMware application, according to the press release, involves integrating Google Maps employee location data with Employee Central, its Core HR Information System platform. And now customers and partners have the same opportunity to build applications on the VMware platform and integrate SuccessFactors data.
SuccessFactors is definitely a worthy addition to the VMware Cloud Foundry ecosystem — it’s been a solid member of the Talkin’ Cloud Stock Index for some time now. And VMware Cloud Foundry needs all the technology partners it can get: Between Microsoft Windows Azure, IBM SmartCloud Enterprise+, Oracle Public Cloud and Google App Engine, the PaaS market is heating up. Stay tuned to TalkinCloud for updates.
