STORServer Expands Entry-Level Storage Portfolio

STORServer is expanding its data backup solutions portfolio with the introduction of two new devices to give IT managers more options for entry-level appliances and small expansion systems for their infrastructure. The company has released the BA641-CV entry-level backup appliance in addition to the EBA-EXPSM-CV Expansion System for customers looking to enhance their storage capabilities.

“The development of these two new models comes in large part due to customer demand,” said Bill Smoldt, president and CEO of STORServer, in a prepared statement. “We are constantly making changes and improvements to our backup appliances to meet the needs of our diverse customer environments.”

The BA641-CV is an upgraded version of STORServer’s existing BA601-CV system, and will include an additional 254GB of two RAID-1 value class solid-state drives (SSDs). The system also comes equipped with a faster processor and front-plane hot-swappable disks for added convenience. Additionally, the EBA-EXPSM-CV is an all-new expansion system, which takes up a smaller footprint for Media Agent deployments at 10TBs of front-end terabyte (FET).

STORServer calls the EBA-EXPSM-CV its Small CommVault Expansion System (arguably a much easier name to remember) and noted it will allow customers with multiple expansion sites to add more space to their sub-10TB range remote sites.

Both systems are powered by CommVault technology under a deal STORserver and CommVault forged in November.
