Splunk SPLK is now offering a 100 percent uptime servicelevel agreement SLA guarantee for its cloud service
Splunk (SPLK) is now offering a 100 percent uptime service-level agreement (SLA) guarantee for its cloud service.

Is 100 percent uptime possible? It is for Splunk (SPLK).

The San Francisco-based cloud services provider (CSP) is now offering a 100 percent uptime service-level agreement (SLA) guarantee for Splunk Cloud, its cloud service for machine data.

Guido Schroeder, Splunk’s senior vice president of products, said the guarantee reflects his company’s confidence in its software-as-a-service-based (SaaS-based) platform.

“Organizations cannot afford downtime on data platforms that monitor their applications, infrastructure and services. With Splunk Cloud, customers get best-in-class, enterprise-ready reliability, an unequaled breadth of features and ease-of-use that enables rapid time to value,” Schroeder said in a prepared statement.

451 Research senior analyst Dennis Callaghan noted Splunk’s uptime guarantee could lead more customers to leverage Splunk Cloud for operational intelligence.

“By guaranteeing 100 percent uptime in its SLA, Splunk Cloud should help ease some of the performance monitoring and visibility concerns associated with applications and infrastructure running in the cloud,” he said.

How can Splunk guarantee 100 percent uptime?

Splunk said its cloud service offers the highest levels of security.

The service scales from 5 GB per day to 5 TB per day and delivers “virtually unlimited scalability, flexibility and performance,” according to the company.

A Splunk spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud her company’s operational intelligence platform is built for 100 percent uptime.

“Splunk Cloud is fully monitored in real-time with our own Splunk software — this is why we’re the only machine-data analytics service to offer a 100 percent uptime SLA,” she said. “Enterprises need to know their cloud services are enterprise-ready, and the 100 percent uptime SLA [guarantee] provides that assurance.”

The spokesperson added Splunk Cloud “provisions dedicated cloud environments for each customer, incorporates built-in high availability (HA) and redundancy and is architected across multiple Amazon Web Services (AWS) availability zones.”
