It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the SolarWinds group. Just last week, SolarWinds, the IT management software provider, released a pair of updates it says arms IT professionals with the broad system-management capabilities needed to optimize performance in hybrid environments.

The new version of Storage Resource Monitor (SRM) extends support to solutions from HPE, Dell EMC, INFINIDAT and IBM, while the update to Server & Application Monitor (SAM) provides application-dependency functionality that enables customers to automatically discover network-based relationships, between applications and servers, by correlating communications at the application process level.

Then Thursday, SolarWinds MSP, the business unit that provides IT service management solutions to the channel, announced a new single-sign-on (SSO) login system for some of its critical solutions, adding an additional layer of security for its managed services suite. The new system beefs up existing user-management options like two-factor authentication (2FA) and more flexibility for security settings at the individual user level.

The company says the new features not only enhance security for day-to-day operations, but also improve the user experience (UX) across its platform. The rollout applies to SolarWinds’ RMM, MSP Manager, MSP Anywhere and Risk Intelligence offerings.

“Single sign-on, together with two-factor authentication, helps to alleviates misuse, provides stronger authentication, and furthers the integration into one powerful and more secure platform,” said Tim Brown, vice president of security at SolarWinds MSP, in a statement.

Also this week, Gartner placed SolarWinds on its 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics, ranking it highest on the “ability to execute” axis for the third consecutive year. Evaluation criteria for the win include product or service, overall viability, sales execution and pricing, market responsiveness and record, marketing execution, customer experience, and operations.
