Skytap Raises $10 Million for Cloud Automation

Skytap, which bills itself as a leading provider of self-service cloud automation solutions, has raised $10 million in Series C funding. Among those pumping money into Skytap: OpenView Venture Partners, which has extensive experience investing in channel-focused cloud companies.

In a press release, Skytap disclosed year-over-year usage and revenue growth alike of over 300 percent. Moreover, Skytap  says their cloud automation platform has attracted a partner base heavily involved in the defense and government verticals — a growth area if ever there was one (see here and here if there).

For its part, OpenView Venture Partners has some experience in backing channel-focused cloud services, with online backup provider Intronis as an early example. And as is usual with this kind of deal, OpenView Senior Managing Director Scott Maxwell will be joining Skytap’s board of directors.

Also participating in this round of funding were existing investors Ignition Partners, Madrona Venture Group, and Washington Research Foundation.

TalkinCloud will be watching to see how Skytap’s new funding will impact their channel presence.
