Salesforce.com COO: Targeting $10 Billion In Cloud Revenues?
Salesforce.com has promoted George Hu, formerly Executive Vice President, Platform, Marketing, and Operations to the new role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Along with his new business cards, Hu is taking responsibility for “major shared operational functions for the company including information technology, employee success, facilities, security, as well [as] salesforce.com’s platform division, global marketing, strategic alliances, and corporate development.”
That’s a pretty tall order. But Hu, a Harvard graduate who’s been with Salesforce since 2002 in roles like senior VP of applications, VP of of marketing, and chief marketing officer, is already fairly involved with the cloud CRM and platform provider’s overall strategy. This is just accelerating his efforts amongst Salesforce’s executive team, according to the press release.
Speaking of the press release, what Salesforce.com public statement would be complete without a mildly hyperbolic statement from CEO Marc Benioff? To wit:
“George’s leadership over the past nine years has been key to driving salesforce.com’s growth to over a $2B run rate. I look forward to seeing his vision and leadership as COO scale our growth toward $10B and beyond.”
It’s too soon to say whether or not Hu’s ascension will have any impact on Salesforce’s channel strategy, but it seems inevitable that his business tactics are going to trickle down to partner bottom lines – one way or the other. Stay tuned for more.
