RightScale To Manage Tata InstaCompute Public Cloud

Gogol_logo2.0

Cloud management specialist RightScale has announced a global partnership with Tata Communications around the Tata InstaCompute IaaS offering. InstaCompute’s SMB and growing business customers will gain access to the RightScale cloud management platform to deploy and control applications. And RightScale will also empower InstaCompute users with the ability to manage all of their private and public clouds.

In a way, this deal isn’t much of a surprise. Tata InstaCompute is powered by CloudStack, which in turn is developed by perennial RightScale partner Cloud.com. And InstaCompute customers will also have access to RightScale’s “Solution Packs” reference architecture library, enabling customers to maximize the efficiency  of their IaaS deployments – handy when the SMB in question only has limited IT resources and needs to meet the specific requirements of a vertical market.

But the real value-add that RightScale brings to the InstaCompute platform is real-time elastic scaling. It’s an odd omission for many an as-a-service cloud offering, but InstaCompute doesn’t have automatic resource scalability built-in. But thanks to this global partnership with RightScale, Tata Communications is able to offer the same. That’s good news for InstaCompute partners and customers alike.

But the real key here is the fact that it’s a “global” partnership. The India-based Tata Communications knows that the cloud is growing up internationally, and it seems pretty clear that they’re looking to capitalize on that fact.
