RightScale Lets You Share Cloud Templates With The World
RightScale, which provides cloud management software, is also one of the IT channel’s biggest evangelists for a SaaS-ified world. So it’s no surprise that the company is allowing users of the RightScale Cloud Management Platform to publish and share custom cloud templates and components with an eye towards expanding their library of pre-configured solutions. Here are some details.
The so-called RightScale ServerTemplates aren’t a new idea — over the past three years, the company and its ISV and SI partners have made available hundreds of templates spanning categories like application servers, business intelligence, and content management.
But now any user can publish their custom-tweaked template to the RightScale community. The idea, according to RightScale’s press release, is to help administrators help each other figure out the best way to deploy and manage cloud solutions across different providers. You can even limit the sharing so templates and components are sent to other developers or IT staff without having to share it with the whole world.
