RhoSync Integrates Smartphone Apps with Salesforce.com

Smartphone application development solution provider Rhomobile has launched an update to the RhoSync smartphone application server designed to integrate mobile phones with data from Salesforce.com. The pitch? Cloud VARs who roll their own apps for Apple iPhone, Google Android or other platforms have a new tool for making sure Salesforce data stays synced when users go mobile – without taking up time writing line after line of code.

According to Rhomobile’s press release, RhoSync 2.1 comes with the Salesforce connectors out-of-the-box, supporting even newer APIs like REST and the Salesforce Chatter enterprise social network. This is in sharp contrast to what Rhomobile describes as the usual approach, where most of an application’s size is comprised of the code it takes to connect to the enterprise back-end, grab the data, parse the data and make sure it all stays synced. But RhoSync uses just one page of Ruby for the same.

Other new additions in RhoSync 2.1 include analytics to give the administrator more insight into how and how well the app is being used. But I suspect most cloud service providers will be more excited for the Salesforce.com integration.

As with the previous release of RhoSync, this is all available separately from the Rhomobile Rhodes application framework, and is compatible with Objective C as well.
