Cloud-simulation platform Rescale on Tuesday unveiled its new Powered by Rescale partner program with IBM as its first technology partner.

Partners now have the ability to provide turnkey high-performance computing (HPC) in the cloud. The program also provides pay-per-use metering and billing of software and hardware through the partner, as well as integrations with a partner’s billing and customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Rescale’s Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith, Rescale’s head of partnerships, tells Channel Partners that a range of partners will benefit from the program.

“Companies seeking to deliver their simulation and HPC products and/or services in the cloud can immediately do so with a scalable delivery model as part of the Powered by Rescale program,” he said. “Anyone who is already participating in big compute, such as an ISV, cloud service provider, [system integrator], or partners looking to build a big compute cloud transformation practice, can take advantage of the Powered by Rescale program.”

The program allows partners to participate in cloud in a “programmatic, repeatable model with customers,” Smith said. It unlocks new use cases with technologies that are cloud-native or pervasive in cloud, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and IoT, he said.

Here’s our most recent list of important channel-program changes you should know.

“It’s tremendously challenging to deliver the entire solution in big compute because there is a convergence of expertise and technologies,” he said. “Organizations are usually coming at it from one perspective. For example, an application vendor may have an expertise in simulation, but may lack cloud and HPC expertise. Or a cloud service provider may have a depth in cloud and infrastructure, but may lack expertise higher up the stack in areas such as applications, licensing, general engineering requirements, [and so on]. With the Powered by Rescale program, partners can deliver their product and/or service to customers as part of an end-to-end solution under their brand. This allows partners in the simulation and HPC space to participate in net-new cloud business opportunities while maintaining focus on their core technology and competency.”

IBM is collaborating with Rescale to provide a full-stack, HPC solution in the IBM Cloud for enterprises.

“The rapidly increasing volume of data presents an opportunity for enterprises to adopt cloud for HPC workloads so they can efficiently and securely analyze, share and generate new business insights,” says Keri Olson, IBM Cloud’s director of HPC offerings. “We are collaborating with Rescale to combine the power and global reach of IBM Cloud infrastructure with Rescale’s HPC management platform to provide a single integrated solution for large scale data simulations and modeling on the IBM Cloud.”
