Red Hat (RHT) has released version 2.2 of OpenShift Enterprise and also beefed up its xPaaS portfolio with the launch of a private integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) offering.

It’s a strengthening of the overall Red Hat PaaS portfolio. The updated version of OpenShift Enterprise provides developer with improved integration between OpenShift and existing data center infrastructure, as well as improvements that enable easy deployment on a variety of virtualization and cloud technologies by integrating with Red Hat CloudForms, the firm’s hybrid cloud management offering.

According to Red Hat, version 2.2 includes out-of-the-box integration with with popular identity management and DNS management platforms to make it easier to integrate it into enterprise data centers. Red Hat also enhanced the PaaS management capabilities for operations through the addition of application placement and middleware cartridge configuration controls.

With the JBoss xPaaS news, Red Hat’s iPaaS launch shows a bit of what the company has in store for the future within its PaaS platform portfolio.

“We believe JBoss xPaaS will be a game-changer for how enterprise development will be done in the future,” said Craig Muzilla, senior vice president of the Application Platforms Business at Red Hat, in a prepared statement. “Red Hat is unique in its ability to combine JBoss and OpenShift to offer enterprises a unified experience for building, integrating, and running applications in an open hybrid cloud.”

Red Hat didn’t provide much detail on iPaaS and how it will fit into its xPaaS strategy, but those attending AWS re:Invent this week can get an up-close-and-personal look at both the iPaaS and the new 2.2 version of OpenShift Enterprise.
