Ravello Systems, a nested virtualization solution provider, is allowing its users to access Nutanix Community Edition via Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.

All Nutanix Community Edition deployments on AWS and Google Cloud are fully automated and customizable, and eliminate business owners’ reliance on legacy hardware to run their virtual infrastructures, according to the announcement.

Ravello’s integration with Nutanix Community Edition means that potential buyers can evaluate the software immediately, without having to deal with setup and and compatibility issues typically associated with hardware-based offerings, according to Ravello. And with the service expected to cost customers less than $1 per hour on average for access, Nutanix is betting on the new cloud solution to be users’ go-to option when utilizing hyperconverged software.

“Following the massive success of the launch of Community Edition, our users demanded the flexibility to access our hyperconverged software in the cloud,” said Greg Smith, senior director of product and technical marketing at Nutanix, in a statement. “By working with Ravello Systems, we’re able to provide our community with the on-demand access they require so they can access our software without having to support their own hardware.”

Ravello has also developed a nested hypervisor solution called HVK, which allows users to access self-contained capsules capable of running existing virtual environments. These virtual environments include the hypervisor itself and are hosted on public clouds like AWS and Google, according to the company.

Nutanix Community Edition on-demand is available now through the Ravello Repo, the company’s repository of infrastructure blueprints. Ravello is allowing users to create and share their own multi-node deployments as templates with the rest of the user community, so additional blueprints are expected to be available in the coming months.

“We are pleased to extend the Ravello platform to support Nutanix Community Edition,” said Rami Tamir, CEO of Ravello Systems. “This is the latest in a growing trend of innovative industry-leaders … [who are] leading the way in accelerating end-user access and adoption through Ravello.”
