ProfitBricks Launches CLI 2.0 for SysAdmin Appreciation Day
Cloud IaaS vendor ProfitBricks launched its new Command Line Interface this week as a way to help IT professionals manage infrastructure functions.
Cloud Line Interface 2.0, which was launched in celebration of SysAdmin Appreciation Day, provides admins with access to all available functions within the ProfitBricks cloud, and was designed to provide faster and easier accessibility for the most commonly used sections of the infrastructure, according to the announcement. CLI 2.0 also allows admins to choose whether they want to manage their infrastructure either solely through a CLI, with the company’s Data Center Designer, or both.
“CLI 2.0 is a first-in-class interface, designed to be the best in the market,” said Matt Baldwin, head architect at ProfitBricks, in a statement. “It exposes functions that, while possible within our Data Center Designer, are far more efficient through a CLI when implemented across the types of large-scale infrastructures that many of our power users are operating.”
Command Line Interface 2.0 is implemented against ProfitBricks’ REST API, which allows it to be used for functions spanning the entire infrastructure, including server creation and managing LANs, the company said.
“Our new Command Line Interface is yet another step forward that ProfitBricks has taken in improving the functionality of our cloud,” said Achim Weiss, co-founder and CEO of ProfitBricks. “Having already made great strides in our DevOps solutions and developing a class-leading Data Center Designer, we now have a CLI that gives power users the control that they need to make the best use out of their ProfitBricks cloud.”
ProfitBricks recently announced the launch of its own Docker platform in June, making it the latest in a growing number of companies hopping on the Docker container bandwagon in the past year.
