Seattle-based private cloud-as-a-service (PCaaS) provider Blue Box this week announced it has added $4 million in Series B funding, raising its total financing for the Series B round to $14 million.

An unnamed telecommunications company participated in the financing round, along with technology venture capital firm Voyager Capital, seed-stage venture capital investor Founder Collective and the Blue Box executive team.

Blue Box has raised $23.1 million since 2012, and the most recent financing round could help the PCaaS solutions provider expand its offerings for both managed service providers (MSPs) and cloud operators.

“The primary focus of the Series B funding is to deploy the engineering, sales and partnering resources necessary to rapidly enable cloud operators as a channel,” Ken Cavallon, Blue Box’s vice president of partners, told MSPmentor. “Specifically, we are actively working with global resellers to package our technology so that service providers can more quickly deploy private cloud-as-a-service for their customers who want managed OpenStack-powered private cloud infrastructure whether ‘hosted’ or ‘on-prem,’ without the burden of design, engineering and especially ongoing operations.”

Blue Box Chief Technology Officer Jesse Proudman told Talkin’ Cloud that his company plans to use the Series B financing to accelerate its product development roadmap for its channel partners.

Matthew Schlitz, Blue Box’s CEO, also commented on the Series B financing: “We are very excited that Blue Box Cloud has quickly been accepted as a leading PCaaS offering in the marketplace. The combination of our unique IP and true operating experience makes it possible for Blue Box to deliver consistent, reliable, efficient and agile private cloud infrastructure-as-a-service directly and through channel partners, and it’s that model we’re moving to implement in 2015 with our partners.”

Blue Box Cloud is a hosted OpenStack private cloud that is available and scalable on-demand, according to Blue Box.
