Open-Xchange Gets Salesforce.com CRM Integration

Open-Xchange, which positions itself as an open source alternative to Microsoft Exchange, has introduced messaging integration with Salesforce.com account information in the cloud, uniting e-mail and CRM. Open-Xchange can’t claim all the credit on this one, though: messaging security and solutions provider RAE Internet did a lot of the heavy coding.

The goal of the so-called Match My E-mail: Salesforce.com Edition is to boost productivity by giving Salesforce.com CRM users a complete view into all their Open-Xchange e-mail correspondence with that customer, according to the press release. Every 20 minutes, the Amazon EC2-hosted Match My E-mail polls the Open-Xchange server, whether it’s on premises or from a cloud service provider, and matches the e-mail stream and attachments  to the right customers.

As an added bonus, Match My E-mail: Salesforce.com edition provides spam and malware protection, and can deliver reports to mobile devices. Open-Xchange and RAE Internet are promoting the cloud solution’s simplicity and ease-of-use, saying it takes a little as ten minutes to get started.

Open-Xchange’s strategy, as TalkinCloud’s noted before, is to gain partner loyalty by offering integration with as many platforms as possible. As Open-Xchange prepares for the IT world’s migration to the cloud, integrating with Salesforce.com is just good business.
