OnLive Unveils Cloud-Based PaaS to Help Businesses With GIAs
Cloud computing and gaming services provider OnLive has launched a new platform-as-a-service (PaaS).
The company said its CloudLift Enterprise PaaS is designed to help businesses stream graphics-intensive applications (GIAs) from the cloud to virtually any device instantly.
Businesses can use CloudLift Enterprise to stream high-definition interactive demos, simulations and 3D programs, according to OnLive.
CloudLift Enterprise also enables businesses to send GIAs to smartphones, tablets and Mac and PC laptops.
OnLive noted CloudLift Enterprise sends these applications from a private, on-premises data center or the company’s fully managed, hosted cloud.
“Enterprises have told us that it is frustrating to build and deliver high-end applications for thin clients and remote devices given their hardware constraints. They want to provide spectacular real-time graphics, and responsive, fluid experiences regardless of the devices their audience chooses to use,” OnLive Executive Chairman Mark Jung said in a prepared statement. “OnLive CloudLift Enterprise frees developers from these limitations by allowing them to stream their applications to a wider variety of devices, enabling them to connect to more consumers.”
CloudLift Enterprise runs on standard data center hardware and provides complete protection against software piracy, OnLive said.
“Using CloudLift Enterprise, businesses can deploy the most complex, latency-sensitive, compute-intensive applications and GIAs to mobile or office-based workforces in just four weeks,” the company said.
The CloudLift Enterprise PaaS is available in the U.S. and Western Europe and supports multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, Mac and Windows.
