Nimbula, Electric Cloud Release Cloud Provisioning Tool for ISVs

nimbula

Cloud operating system provider Nimbula and ISV enablement solution provider Electric Cloud have teamed up to release a plug-in designed to help developers provision cloud environments. This tool aims to give developers a way to focus on building their products in ElectricCommander, with Nimbula Director integration taking care of infrastructure management for testing and deployment.

As a quick refresher, Nimbula Director — developed by founding members of the Amazon EC2 team — is an IaaS solution designed to help service providers turn compute and storage resources into flexible, scalable private and public clouds. And now, thanks to integration with the Electric Cloud ElectricCommander, applications get the benefit of Nimbula Director-powered automatic scaling and elasticity in the cloud, according to the press release.

Electric Cloud CTO Anders Wallgren offered some additional perspective in a prepared statement:

“Cloud infrastructure is widely used among engineering teams in the enterprise to support software development, testing and deployment. Nimbula Director is designed to service that market. With today’s announcement from Nimbula and Electric Cloud, teams can automatically manage the lifecycle of cloud resources in the context of the development process to achieve greater development agility, create higher quality software and speed time-to-market.”

This plug-in, now available free of charge for Nimbula Director and Electric Cloud customers, delivers on an announcement made at the tail end of September 2011 around the expanding Nimbula technology ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more updates on Nimbula and its partners, especially as it continues to compete with solutions such as 6fusion and OpenStack.
