New Axcient VP Operations to Drive Cloud Expansion

‘Tis the season for senior management changes. Or so it seems this week. And the latest change is the hiring of a new vice president of Operations at Axcient, which focuses on recovery-as-a-service offerings.

Axcient has brought Mark Stockford on board to lead the company’s global cloud infrastructure expansion and increase reliability. The former CIO of Ask.com and head of Operations at Zynga has been tasked with expanding Axcient’s cloud infrastructure around the world and driving alignment and execution in day-to-day operations.

Stockford is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in executive operations, in which he has organized, directed and controlled global teams while also maintaining high levels of reliability and performance in data center operations.

While at social game services company Zynga, Stockford was responsible for the architecture, engineering and operations of its ZCloud platform. He also oversaw the rather large project of moving Zynga from Amazon Web Services to its own private cloud infrastructure.

“Mark’s strong background in building scalable, cost-effective cloud architectures and managing them to the highest levels of reliability and performance made him stand out among all of the other candidates,” said Justin Moore, founder and CEO of Axcient, in a prepared statement. “His expertise will be important, especially as we continue to disrupt the market and take our business to the next level.”

Axcient has grown considerably since it was founded in 2006, but the company looks poised to take on the larger global market. The recovery-as-a-service market has matured in recent years, and it continues to grow. With the right people filling its leadership roles, it could see significant growth. And that’s something its partners will benefit from.
