NetSuite Propels Managed Services Provider Into the Cloud

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP isn’t your traditional managed services provider. Rather, Baker Tilly is an accounting and services firm that also has some IT expertise. And now they’re leaping into the cloud, thanks to a partnership with NetSuite — the SaaS ERP software specialist and Talkin’ Cloud Stock Index member. Indeed, Baker Tilly will push beyond traditional its traditional services to offer customized accounting and regulatory compliance solutions from the cloud. Here are some quick details.

Like many other traditional service providers, Baker Tilly wanted to capitalize on the increasing demand for cloud services, and experienced some early success. After auditing several cloud ERP and CRM vendors, according to the press release, Baker Tilly embraced NetSuite. And so the Baker Tilly cloud computing practice was born.

NetSuite’s key virtues, according to Baker Tilly, include a willingness to jointly develop solutions, a mature platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering, and a wholesale approach to selling cloud services. For its part, NetSuite VP of Channel Sales Craig West says 2011 is the year of the cloud VAR. In particular, West says NetSuite is working with more and more mid-market VARs and solutions providers. The Baker Tilly relationship seems to reinforce that point; Baker Tilly has 1,350 employees serving clients in 11 cities.
