NetSuite Launches Cloud Manufacturing Suite

NetSuite, which increasingly promotes SaaS through the channel, has launched the NetSuite Manufacturing Edition, a cloud solution for global midsize manufacturers. Here’s the scoop.

Among the key features of NetSuite Manufacturing Edition, as per the press release: multi-site planning and management, material requirements planning (MRP), production management, engineering change control (ECC), shop floor control and work-in-progress (WIP) management.

The idea is to provide manufacturers a cheaper, SaaS alternative to current, “archaic,” management solutions that still has the kind of support for multiple currencies, multiple plants, and eagle’s-eye view of their business that customers require. It also supports customization, so the platform can be retooled to meet new needs.

Manufacturing Edition is built at least partially on NetSuite’s own OneWorld technology.

Calling On Partners

It’s safe to expect NetSuite to pitch its Manufacturing Edition to SaaS channel partners. In April 2010, NetSuite hosted a partner conference in San Francisco and said 2010 is the year of the channel in the cloud. Moreover, NetSuite has been busy promoting OpenAir — a PSA (professional services automation) platform — to a growing list of IT service provides and tech consultants.
