Identifying and vetting cloud services for your customers isn’t an easy or fast task. Cloud services brokers, in particular, have a long road ahead when they start up their business and begin to search out the most efficient and secure cloud apps to take to customers. Cloud newcomer Netskope has released a report that might at least make it easy to identify the safest clouds for enterprises.

Netskope, which emerged from stealth mode this week as a cloud app analytics and policy firm, released a report that shines some light on what it believes are the safest cloud application categories and the safest services.

“We launched the Netskope Cloud Report to give IT and business decision-makers insights into cloud app risks, opportunities and usage trends that will help them make the most informed decisions,” said Sanjay Beri, Netskope’s CEO, in a prepared statement.

In terms of top-scoring categories, enterprise resource planning (ERP), document management and security received the highest marks for security, auditability and disaster recovery (the key elements Netskope used in judging cloud services). On the flip side were the worst-scoring categories, which included software development, marketing and productivity.

But the meat here is really in the top 10 list. And here they are, the top-scoring cloud services, according to Netskope:

  1. Salesforce.com

  2. Box

  3. CrashPlan

  4. Amazon Web Services

  5. EasyVista

  6. Workday

  7. Syncplicity

  8. eVault

  9. Zoho

  10. NetSuite

“Businesses should be diligent about ensuring that their cloud apps include baseline security and enterprise-readiness features,” Beri said. “Solutions like Netskope can help supplement some of the features that may be lacking, such as auditability, and can do it consistently across all apps.”
