nCircle PureCloud Addresses Common Security Gaps
Information risk and security performance management vendor nCircle is aiming to help resellers and managed security service providers (MSSPs) provide customers with a cost-effective and easily used scanning solution for addressing some of the most common gaps in security visibility in the enterprise. PureCloud Enterprise is being positioned as a robust scanner that can handle a number of security and monitoring functions, and ties into nCircle’s existing Suite360 Intelligence Hub to provide a single-pane-of-glass view of security risk, consolidated reporting and analytics.
With a modest channel partner organization that spans the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia and the Pacific, nCircle has several different security-related products, but this seems to be its first foray into the cloud market. The cloud-based scanning product was designed to perform scans of both internal and perimeter, but unlike a lot of cloud-based products, PureCloud Enterprise isn’t being sold as a subscription-based service. Rather, it comes with a flat-fee price tag of $2,147.
Really, the value being brought forward by nCircle with its latest product is to address security issues often found within dispersed enterprises — those businesses with multiple branch and remote offices that haven’t yet addressed the security issues that exist beyond the four walls of its headquarters.
In its announcement of PureCloud Enterprise, nCircle quoted a prepared statement from Peter Christy, founder of Internet Research Group, a market research company focusing on Internet infrastructure. According to Christy, “According to our research, at least 70 percent of the enterprise workforce operates from remote and branch offices, and we expect that percentage to continue to climb. Clearly, a comprehensive security solution must be flexible enough to address remote locations, branch offices and supply chain partners. PureCloud Enterprise effectively addresses the requirements for this market.”
Of course, nCircle is getting into an already busy market dominated by large security vendors including McAfee and Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC), both of which already provide a host of cloud-based or cloud-enabled products and services.
PureCloud aims to provide a robust solution with a “wide range of enterprise applications” — from branch office scans, to continuous security monitoring, to assessing IT security and onboarding costs related to mergers and acquisitions, to network perimeter scans of Internet-facing systems.
